“The Government is determined to remove barriers that small suppliers face in public sector procurement and make it easier for them to do business with Government” recent government statement.
The new website has now gone live http://www.contractsfinder.businesslink.gov.uk and it has “a suitable for SMEs” selection button and according to the Government over 25% of all contracts should now be suitable for SMEs.
What I found was that out of 1199 contracts – I couldn’t find any contracts suitable for small business. I tried the following selections “Cambridge”, “Huntingdon”, “Huntingdonshire”,”East of England”, “United Kingdom”
I could only find 1 contract under “East of England” that was suitable for SMEs. There are a lot of faults that should have been picked during user acceptance training. Very poor.
Why is the Government not living up to its SME commitment ? Out of 1200 contracts tendered on the site 300 should have been suitable for SMEs but there were none (maybe one !!)
