Changing who can see your Linkedin Connections

The “default” on Linkedin is that all the Connections that you have are visible to your other Connections.  As an open networker I believe that this is an “excellent” default position as it really helps you grow your network.

However, where you have direct competitors in your industry who are connections you do not want to give away your entire customer database.  In this case you would want to hide your connections.

Click on your name on the top right hand corner of the Linkedin screen and select Settings.   Under the Profile tab on the Left Hand side the two options that you need to change are

Select who can see your connections

Select who can see your activity feed

This is not a step to take lightly.  When you have invested a large amount of time and effort building and refining your contact list it is understandable that you want to protect this valuable investment.

It is a shame that Linkedin cant provide a facility where you can selectively share your connections
